Objective: students will learn that certain genres of music were formed and developed by style, sound, and culture. Furthermore, students will understand why the Vietnam war presented dark themes in the lyrics of many songs that went beyond protest songs.

We will hear the music of Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and Pete Seeger covering the Folk music genre as well as Sam Cooke, James Brown, and Ray Charles covering aspects of Rhythm and Blues and Jazz influences.
